The Iowa State Fair provides an opportunity for all candidates seeking to win the presidency to make their case at the Des Moines Register Political Soapbox. On August 10th, our children’s advocates Jill Applegate and Emilee Harris stopped by the Soapbox and were able to ask a question of New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.
Asked about what he would do as president to address the child care crisis, Booker responded that the child care crisis in America needs to be recognized as a national security issue, and that the United States’ greatest natural resource is “the genius of our children.” He committed to providing universal prenatal care, universal preschool, and paid family leave.
To hear Booker’s full answer, watch the video above.
The Children’s Policy Coalition is calling on every presidential candidate to address the issues affecting children and families. Candidate responses are shared here for informational purposes only. The Children’s Policy Coalition does not endorse candidates or parties. We’re caucusing for kids!
