Three days into her official presidential campaign, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) made an appearance at a town hall in Iowa and answered questions about paid family leave and early childhood education.
Responding to a question about how she would support equity in education, Gillibrand stressed her support for early education and universal pre-k. The lack of affordable child care, Gillibrand said, is one of the factors contributing to the “sticky floor” that keeps poor families from escaping poverty.
